Psibunnies

Classification: Cycloptic RAD Beast

Description: small yet ferocious cyclops rabbits

Status Effects: Paralysis, Confusion

Status: Dangerous (Disruption-Class)

Group Name: Glare

Locations: Jouven – Neon Forest, Badlamb Gardens; Pastdurk, Farmlands and Villages

Description

Psibunnies are small yet ferocious cyclops rabbits with vibrant hot pink, sky-blue, or lime green fur and a single oversized crimson eye that dominates nearly half their face. Their fur glows faintly under RAD surges, especially during high-Acto phases, giving them an almost bioluminescent sheen among the fiber-optic grasses of Jouven.

Despite their soft, plush-like bodies and upright ears, Psibunnies are unmistakably rabid in appearance. Their mouths stretch wide with sharp, irregular teeth, often dripping with saliva as they chatter or hiss. Their lone eye is blood-red, veined like cracked glass, and unnervingly reflective — often mirroring their target before the attack even begins.

In the Neon Forest of Jouven Place Descriptions, their bright coloration blends surprisingly well with glowing underbrush and luminous flora. They are particularly drawn to gardens, berry patches, and cultivated farmland, where RAD-enriched vegetation seems to intensify their mental abilities.

Behavior

Garden Raiders:
Psibunnies are notorious for invading small towns such as Badlamb and rural settlements near the Neon Forest. They target crops, berry bushes, and newly planted fields. Rather than simply feeding, they often destroy more than they consume — a territorial behavior tied to their unstable RAD psyche.

Blocking Instinct:
Psibunnies frequently position themselves directly in narrow paths, gates, or doorways. They appear to intentionally obstruct movement, forcing travelers to meet their gaze. This behavior is believed to maximize the effectiveness of their primary ability.

Erratic Swarm Tactics:
A glare of Psibunnies will scatter unpredictably, then reform around adversarial garden keepers. One glaze per person and any remaining psibunnies will attack or reap the rewards of the gardens taking turns as needed.

Abilities

Gaze (Primary Ability):
Psibunnies lock onto a single target with their crimson eye, inducing intense confusion and spatial disorientation. The victim may experience distorted depth perception, phantom duplicates, or looping movement patterns.

  • A Psibunny may only focus on one target at a time.

  • While gazing, it can only physically attack the gazed target.

  • If struck or threatened by another opponent, it may abruptly shift its gaze to the new aggressor.

  • Breaking line of sight immediately disrupts the effect.

Mind Snare:
During prolonged eye contact, the target may feel momentarily rooted in place, as if their thoughts are lagging behind their body.

RAD Flicker:
Under high RAD fluctuations, Psibunnies may appear to “blink” short distances, a side effect of micro-distortions rather than true teleportation.

Lifespan & Growth

  • Stage 1 – Neon Kit: Small, less aggressive, eye dim and unfocused

  • Stage 2 – Focus Bloom: Eye deepens to crimson, aggression increases

  • Stage 3 – Prime Glare: Full psychic capability; territorial and highly disruptive

  • Stage 4 – Eye Fade: When dying, the red eye dulls first before body collapse

Variants by Fur Color

  • Common: Hot Pink, Sky Blue

  • Uncommon: Dual-Tone Split Fur (half pink / half blue)

  • Rare: Alpha Psibunny — Larger body, darker red eye that pulses visibly, can briefly chain-confuse two targets in rapid succession

Ecological Notes

Psibunnies are a direct byproduct of RAD mutation within small woodland fauna. Their oversized single eye appears to be an evolutionary amplification of perception under chaotic magical conditions. Researchers speculate their mental abilities stem from fractured neurological symmetry caused by post-Junosis RAD exposure.

Unlike larger RAD beasts, Psibunnies do not attack for sustenance alone. Their aggression appears territorial and psychological. Many believe the confusion they induce is not merely a weapon — but an involuntary emotional discharge of their own unstable minds.

Waku-Waku has been known to punch one mid-gaze before it fully locks on. This remains the most effective field strategy.

Combat Warning

Do not engage multiple Psibunnies in confined space.
Break line of sight immediately.
Avoid staring contests.
If one blocks your path, assume others are nearby.

Their small size makes them deceptively dangerous. The eye is the threat — not the teeth.
